Conscious Victims: Heart Attack

Call 9 1 1

Get the AED

If the victim is conscious and exhibits some or most of the symptoms of a heart attack, call 9 1 1 or your designated emergency number immediately. Keep the victim calm while waiting for advanced care, loosen tight clothing and help the victim find a comfortable position.

Assign someone to grab the AED, if available. (If you are alone at the scene, do this yourself immediately.)

Do not use the AED unless the victim becomes unresponsive or goes unconscious.
