Conscious Victims: Medications

86%

Cardiac victims may benefit from aspirin if they are not allergic; have no health restrictions to taking aspirin; are not taking blood thinning medication; or do not have stomach disease or an ulcer.

If the victim is over18 years of age and does not have these health conditions and is able to chew and swallow, he may take 1 adult chewable non-coated aspirin or 2 low-dose chewable baby aspirin (up to 325 mg total). Caution the victim to chew aspirin completely before swallowing.

If the person has nitroglycerin or other medication as prescribed by his doctor, have him use this as the doctor has directed.
