Unconscious Victim: When & How to Move Victim |
If you can approach the victim without resulting in harm to yourself and there are potential hazards nearby (such as a live electrical wire), move the person away from these life-threatening hazards. If you suspect head, neck, or spine injury, do not move the victim unless it is absolutely necessary for life safety reasons. |
If you must move someone with a potential head, neck or spine injury, two rescuers can more safely do this. Support the head and neck in the position they were found while carefully rolling the victim onto his back and gently pulling him by his clothing or upper chest.
